Autumn is finally here; as it happens, it's also my favorite season. I have always associated autumn with books, starting school or a new job (though I started mine this summer), and buying lots of stationery.
Autumn is also associated with learning or, in my case, starting a new year in my Ph.D. journey. As I like to say, I am starting my second full-time job again. Not that you ever actually stop.
I opened today's article with this autumnal introduction because while I have been highly consistent with writing my articles, I am gravitating more these days towards more thesis writing and less platform-y writing, if there is such a thing.
So, while I work on my new cadence and content roadmap, I will leave you with a round-up of the most interesting things I've read and listened to in product, design, and engineering this week.
The first and the most interesting read I came across is from
on The Importance of Engineering Managers. This is a very thoughtful write up on the key role managers and especially engineering managers play in our organisation.Secondly, I listen to Mark Cote on
’s podcast, talking about Shopify’s developer survey program. Highly recommending if this is an initiative on your radar. Highly recommending even if it isn’t.And finally, two brilliant podcasts from
:Brian Balfour: 10 lessons on career, growth and life
I absolutely loved it and if there was one lesson that really resonate with me is that problems never end (and that’s ok).
What sets great teams apart by
I think this is one of the most thoughtful talks on setting up product teams for success I ever listened to.
Enjoy and see ya next Friday!
